DIY: Chalk Paint Side Tables
Annie Sloan's chalk paint makes refinishing furniture painless. It goes on without much prep work (make sure your piece is clean and free of dirt and dust), and dries within minutes.
I had a pair of side tables from Home Goods that I loved. The coral color added a nice pop of color and worked with the navy grasscloth wallpaper in the dining room. But looking for a softer and more monochromatic feel, I decided to give them a fresh coat of paint - in blue, no less.
Using my leftover Annie Sloan chalk paint from another project, I began mixing and layering the Old Violet and Paris Grey colors that I had until I got the shade of pale blue that I envisioned.
It took some tweaking to make sure it did not come out with too purple a hue. The chalk paint makes it easy to quickly mix and layer as needed.
In the end, the color worked well with the navy and tied in with other accent colors in the room.
