ROOM MAKEOVERS: Bay Window Dressing
This blah bay window desperately needed a makeover.
The remedy: Using a wide trim, the perimeter of the bay was framed out, while a built in bench was added to fill the 6 foot wide expanse. Decorative base-board molding was used at the front of the seat to mirror the walls in the adjacent family room. With a seat cushion draped in outdoor fabric (to withstand the harsh sun and the dirty hands of toddlers), the end result was a transformation that took this eye sore to an attractive and welcoming spot for the family to gather, read a book, or to use as extra seating at the dinner table.
The throw cushions are detailed with a letter of buttons for each child’s initial (in a mix of aqua and seafoam). And when they tire of the buttons, they can just turn the pillows around for an alternate style – a full monogram in alternating shades of seafoam and light blue thread.
