SHOPPING FINDS: A Quest for a Desk
I have found that when I have a desk with lots of drawers, I end up filling those drawers with lots of junk. Things don't stay organized and I end up with more clutter than function.
Given that I was using a storage cabinet to house the usual things I might have kept in those drawers - pens, stamps, paper clips, etc... - I wanted a simple desk that could sit in the center of the room without taking up too much space, but one that had some style to it. I really liked the geometric look of the desks with "X" style legs.
I was excited to find the "Jospehine" desk from World Market (below), but I could not find it in stock anywhere:
World Market "Josephine" desk, originally $199.00
World Market did have another "X" base desk available...
....the "Campaign" desk, $199.99, but I wasn't sure that I wanted a more rustic look for the office.
Similar to this one is the "Whitewashed Cross Base Desk" from West Elm,
...on sale for $719.00.
I then found a great deal at Pottery Barn. They offered three different finishes in their "Ava" Desk:
This antique white finish retails for $299.00.
The espresso finish retails for $349.00.
And my favorite....
The modern look of the polished nickel finish would work well in the office where I planned to have more funky colors. And at $499.00, it didn't break the bank.
Along these lines is the "Tesso" desk from CB2 (that I love), $329.00.
